Characters too mature? Empty Characters too mature?

It kinda annoys me how mature the characters are. I mean, 6th graders..dating? Going to italian resturants? A guy paying? It's just not very REAL to me 6th grade guys are usualy still going trhough puberty, and are usualy immature. heck, most 8th grade guys are too. I've yet to meet one couple in my school that will just go to the movies as a date, let alone to a real resturant. And the guy offering to actualy PAY, and have parents pick them up. One, what parent would allow dating that young? The whole first date scene between Lauren and Ty just is very unrealistic to me

I disagree, politely. I think characters are characters and can do what they want.

I mean, I agree that they are just characters in a story, but isn't it supposed to be realistic?
